Wednesday's Child - The Moreno Children of El Paso, Texas

Manuela, Marcus, and Serapio were my Grandfather's brother and sisters.  They came from a family of 10 children in El Paso, Texas.  The surviving children all lived well into their 80s and 90s.  It is so sadto me how many families lost young children during the 1900s, and I always wondered how the surviving children felt losing a sibling.  My Mother always said that my Grandfather always mourned for his "older" brother. The three children are all buried in the historic Concordia Cemetery in El Paso, Texas.

Marcus Moreno - Born Jan 1907 Died about 1915, 7 years old, cause unknown (probably Scarlet Fever since his sister died same time)
Serapio Moreno - Born Nov 1907 Died 8 July 1915, 7 years old, Scarlet Fever
Manuel Moreno - Born about 1904 Died 23 May 1919, 15 years old, Tuberculosis.

Sadly, TB & scarlet fever was too common.
